What is the term length of the Friends & Family Plan?
Our Friends & Family Plan is a 3-year plan that includes home energy rates & a Rümi Appliance Protection Plan.
Can I get the Friends & Family Plan if I only need electricity or gas at my home?
Unfortunately, the Friends & Family Plan is only available to customers who sign up for both electricity and natural gas services with ATCOenergy. But even if you have only one energy type, you can still sign up for Rümi’s Home Protection Plans.
How do I redeem the Rümi Appliance Protection Plan?
Once you sign up for our Friends & Family Plan, we’ll call you to activate your free Rümi Appliance Protection Plan for a year. You’ll immediately have access to unlimited homeowner legal assistance by phone, our Certified Home Inspector, and special discounts on Rümi Home Services.
What does Rümi cover when my appliances break down?
Your warranty membership covers you when your dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer have a sudden breakdown. It covers $10,000 per year across all appliances for repairs and replacements. This includes both parts and labour.
Our service techs will try to fix the issue. If it can’t be fixed, it may be time for a new appliance.
On unfixable appliances less than 15 years old, this warranty will contribute to your appliance replacement costs. You'll receive a settlement equal to either the cost of repair or the price of a similar replacement product, whichever is lower. The maximum payout for replacements is $2,000. Check your contract for more information on replacement contributions.
Do I have to pay a fee to make a claim?
Yes, there’s a $50 fee per repair issue. This caps repair costs at $50 per breakdown if you stay within the yearly coverage amount. You're covered up to a maximum coverage amount of $10,000 total across all your covered appliances. That’s comprised of $2,000 per appliance type per year. See your contract for more information.
How do I make a claim?
Call 1-888-865-9711 to initiate your claim. We’re available 24/7 to take your report and arrange for service. Within 48 hours (about 2 days) of your claim report, a qualified appliance technician will be dispatched to your home. We move quickly to get your core home appliances back up and running sooner.
Can I cancel my Appliance Protection Plan?
Yes, you can cancel your Rümi Appliance Protection Plan at any point in time. Cancellation fees apply:
- Months 1-12: No fee unless a claim has been made, then $150 fee
- Months 13-24: $150 fee
- Months 25-36: $50 fee

Included in your Appliance Protection Plan is access to an unlimited legal support hotline. Call 1-888-865-9711 any time to connect with our experienced lawyers to get answers on legal issues relating to your home.
I signed up online, what happens now?
One of our Home Happiness Advisors will reach out to you by phone to get the final information to setup your Friends & Family plan. A credit card will be required for the Rümi Appliance Protection Plan portion of the Friends & Family plan.
